This guide will teach you how to set up and connect Gameboard to your EncounterPlus server.
SUBSCRIBE TO ENCOUNTERPLUS
STEP 1: Open up the Settings window.
STEP 2: If you have not already, you'll need to purchase a Premium Subscription to EncounterPlus. This will give you access to the web server features for remote play, which you will need to connect Gameboard to EncounterPlus.
SETTING UP YOUR WEB SERVER
STEP 3: Once you've purchased your Premium Subscription to EncounterPlus, you should now have access to the Web Server settings. Click on "Web Server" to access the Web Server settings.
STEP 4: Turn on your web server. You may need to adjust your wifi port/firewall settings (visit the Help Center in the EncounterPlus for more details).
STEP 5: This is the IP address you will need to connect Gameboard later.
STEP 6 (optional): If you are playing with remote players, this is the IP address you will share with them so they can connect to your game server (either via web browser or their own Gameboard).
CHOOSE YOUR BATTLE MAP
STEP 7: Tap on the "External Screen" button to access the settings for what EncounterPlus will send to external screens (including Gameboard).
STEP 8: Under "Battle Map", you will need to select what map you wish to display to your players.
STEP 9: Select your battle map that you'd like to present.
ADJUST VIEWPORT SETTINGS
STEP 10 (optional): Toggling on "Visible" will allow you to see a frame on your GM screen indicating what part of the map is currently visible on Gameboard.
STEP 11: Toggle "Tabletop Mode" on to enable Gameboard-related functions when connecting a Gameboard to your server.
STEP 12a: Toggle "Pan/Zoom Lock" on to lock the Gameboard viewport in place while panning the map on the GM screen.
ADJUST GAMEBOARD DISPLAY
STEP 12b: In order for the screen on Gameboard to match the correct grid size for the battle maps, you'll need to change the "Physical Width (cm)" setting to "40".
CONNECTING YOUR GAMEBOARD
STEP 13: After launching EncounterPlus on your Gameboard, tap on the "EncounterPlus" dropdown menu on the top left of the screen.
STEP 14: Tap on "Settings" to access the client settings window.
STEP 15: Enter in the local IP address from Step 5 here (or if you are connecting to a remote server, enter the public IP address from Step 6 instead).
STEP 16: Check to make sure the "Run Mode" setting is set to "tv" (this will ensure it runs with Gameboard features, otherwise the client will act like a normal web browser instead).
STEP 17: Click "Save" and Gameboard will connect to your EncounterPlus server and display your map! Enjoy!
Now you are ready to lead your questing party into exciting adventures!
NOTE: Gameboard has a map image resolution limit of 4096x4096. Anything larger than that will not be displayable on Gameboard. We recommend you resize your maps to smaller than that before using them on Gameboard.
